Strengthening Ties: Visit to the Burundi Embassy in The Hague
Last week, we had the honor of being invited to the Burundi Embassy in The Hague by Ambassador Isabelle Ndayaho. For the past three years, Ambassador Ndayaho has represented Burundi in the Netherlands, and it was a privilege to sit down with her for a lively and insightful discussion.
Our conversation revolved around the Burundi coffee sector, the record-high global prices for green coffee, and the constructive role government can play in ensuring that farmers receive fair compensation while consumers enjoy exceptional quality. It was encouraging to see how diplomatic engagement can support a more sustainable and transparent coffee value chain.
As Ambassador Ndayaho prepares to return to Burundi for her next posting within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we agreed to stay in touch with her successor and to continue these important conversations—both here in Europe and during our next visit to Burundi.
At Stories Café, we believe great coffee comes from more than beans. It’s the result of curating a network of dedicated partners—from farmers and cooperatives to policymakers and roasters—who share the goal of seeing African specialty coffee thrive.
